Two oddities here... Spruce and birch trees in Alaska have a common affliction that causes them to grow "knots" - these huge swellings. This one is just about six feet across (not around - across!) and this one is just on one side of the tree. Then some yokel thought it would be funny to applique a face on it. Yeah, it's funny.
